Giveback

Why Give Back?

There are so many great causes out there to support. As a life coaching San Antonio expert, we take this very seriously. Making this choice is not taken lightly. But the first question is – “Why give back in the first place?” The simple answer is – to be a blessing to others. This is just one way to support a good and impactful cause. A portion of proceeds from Live on Purpose Coaching services are donated on a regular basis.

For Live on Purpose Coaching, this is important. And through wisdom and discernment, an organization has been selected which is solid, sound financially, has a major impact on youth and the military and has a mission with which we are aligned.

Club Beyond’s Strategic Objective

Healthy subject matter experts providing effective military youth ministry.

Background

Staff for Club Beyond come primarily from professional youth workers in the United States. There is a strong partnership with the Young Life organization and many of the staff come from there. Both official staff and Club Beyond volunteers serve as mentors to youth, and work to be present through the rocky period of adolescence. They assist as positive role models during this often-tumultuous period. Club Beyond events include weekly meetings and Bible studies, youth retreats, and other special activities such as activity nights, ski trips, summer camps, service projects and more. Live On Purpose Life Coaching San Antonio is proud to work with such a great organization.

Military teens are particularly vulnerable as they are often uprooted when a parent is reassigned to a new location or is deployed. This might include being transplanted to a new state or country, culture, and language even as well as a new school to attend. Combine this with the challenges of the teenage years, Club Beyond helps to fill the gap and provide unconditional love and support for military teens who experience their share of challenges.

A strategic partnership was formed in 1980 between Young Life and Youth for Christ, creating the model which reflects the needs of military youth; this was the genesis of Club Beyond. Since that time Club Beyond has grown from two programs to over 20 programs globally and has touched more than 10,000 students with their outreach.

Club Beyond staff are vocational youth workers recruited from across the United States, usually from Young Life team and augmented with local volunteers.

How are charitable organizations evaluated?

There are several resources to leverage in order to identify and rate a charitable organization (typically labeled a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)) uses the donations it receives effectively. Different sources of data are leveraged regularly including data from the IRS, information submitted by the charitable organization itself, as well as other sources.

Rating organizations leverage a number of different factors to include details such as mission, leadership, community impact, results of the organizations, and, most importantly, financial impact. Other benchmarks could include insider relationships, offshore investments, and any scandals identified. Without exception, the main factor is a focus on the percentage of total expenses a charity spends on its programs. Ratings are typically dependent heavily on this factor. Individual rating systems are set up based on the data available. This allows for transparent evaluation when selecting a charitable organization to support and ensuring it is in alignment with what matters most to the donating organization. There are several sources available to include charitywatch.org, charitynavigator.org, and guidestar.org to name a few. Diving a bit deeper regarding those charitable entities with a focus on veteran or the military, there are also organizations such as donorbox.org, military-money-matters.com, and charitiesforvets.org and more.
